Join Emma Hill, Curator of Ken Kiff: The Sequence, and artist James Fisher for a lively in conversation event reflecting on the work and influence of Ken Kiff.

EMMA HILL is a curator and writer who has worked in the visual arts for over 30 years. She established the Eagle Gallery, London in 1991 and has published a series of artists’ books under the Gallery’s EMH Arts imprint, which are collaborations between contemporary artists and writers. 

She has curated exhibitions for Aldeburgh Music, Almeida Opera, the British Library, and Worcester Cathedral. In 2017 she was the curator of Stephen Chambers: The Court of Redonda at the Venice Biennale, and The Heong Gallery, Downing College, Cambridge, 2018. Her writing includes: Threshold, Yielding Door, Smallness Stirs, Basil Beattie; Taking Steps, Artnews Contemporary, 2010; and Prunella Clough, Kettle’s Yard, 1999. She is a regular contributor to Print Quarterly, Printmaking Today and the RA Magazine. In 2009, she was commissioned to write a libretto for the New London Children’s Choir (The Ice Mountain, Naxos, 2011).

JAMES FISHER was born in the UK in 1972. He attained a BA at the University of Brighton (1992 – 1995) and an MA at the Royal College of Art (1995 – 1997) and was a recipient of an Abbey Scholarship in Painting at the British School at Rome in 2001. He was awarded a PHD in Fine Art at the University of Gloucestershire in 2009 following a series of exhibitions that explored relationships between painting, music
and text. 

Fisher has had nine solo exhibitions including Uchiwa-e Eagle Gallery, London (2011); My Hopes are not Entirely Hopeless Aldeburgh Music, Suffolk (2009); I came here a stranger Eagle Gallery, London (2008); As a stranger I depart Campden Gallery, Chipping Campden (2008) and The Wanderer Rochester City Art Gallery (2005). He has exhibited in Italy, Ireland and the UK and has been an invited artist in exhibitions including BITE, Mall Galleries (2011); ING Discerning Eye, Mall Galleries and the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (both in 2010). He has collaborated with sculptor Denise de Cordova on Camouflage – an installation of sculpture and paintings for the London Art Fair 2015. Fisher’s paintings are held in many private collections in the UK and Europe, and public collections include FIL Plc, London; the Jerwood Foundation, Hastings and
the Hive, Worcester.
