13 June / 6-7pm / Free with exhibition ticket / Meet at Gallery Reception

Dr Lilian Cameron will discuss the films of Tacita Dean  and their connections and engagements with the writing of W.G. Sebald. Themes examined will include portraiture, both filmic and photographic, and the relationships between writing, photography and moving imagery. The talk will also engage with the challenges and opportunities of exhibiting film, the new insights into Sebald’s practice by the exhibition and the rich array of associations between Sebald and Dean that this special exhibition presents.

The event will take place in the exhibition. Dr Lilian Cameron is Course Leader for Art Museums, Galleries and Curating at Sotheby’s Institute of Art, London.

This event is inspired by the exhibition W.G Sebald: Far away - but from where? which takes place at the Sainsbury Centre from 11 May 2019 - 18 August 2019.
