Sainsbury Centre makes debut at Royal Norfolk Show

The Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts at the University of East Anglia, Norwich will make its debut at this year’s Royal Norfolk Show. Visitors can learn more about one of the most important and outstanding art collections in the UK, housed in Norman Foster’s award-winning museum that celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2018.

The Centre invites visitors to its stand at no. 185 President's Avenue to learn more and enjoy a series of free pop-up short talks by artists, curators, historians and art specialists throughout the two days

Highlights include how the Sainsbury Centre prepares exhibitions, the forthcoming Russia Season exhibitions, plans to expand the outdoor Sculpture Park, and more. Click here to view the full talks programme>

Joining the Centre will be artist and Spitting Image creator Roger Law alongside his life sized Margaret Thatcher puppet – offering a unique selfie opportunity - and examples of his ceramics – soon to go on display as part of a new exhibition at the Centre in November.

The Centre will also share its vision for the creation of a Sculpture Park for East Anglia set in 320 acres of built and natural environment at the Norwich Research Park; have interactive learning stations and the chance to create some artwork, together with a pop-up shop retailing art postcards and books, and bespoke scarves.

“We would love to showcase some of the hundreds of pieces by world-renowned artists, but as you can imagine, transportation, handling and insurances make this prohibitive,” said Head of Development Stephanie Renouf.

“However, we will bring exceptional people - artists, curators, historians and art specialists - who will reveal in 15 minute pop up talks how exhibitions are programmed, the significance of the collection, and what goes on behind the scenes.”

Lycetts, insurance and financial advisers, sponsors of the Sainsbury Centre marquee will also be on hand offering advice.

The Sainsbury Centre can be found at No.185 President’s Avenue.
