Projects: Correspondence exhibition

On 30th May 2014, the Sainsbury Centre Young Associates presented the work of 10 artists in a pop-up exhibition titled CORRESPONDENCE in the Crescent Wing at the Sainsbury Centre.

This exhibition was held alongside the Moore in Focus: A Friendship in Letters display that explored the relationship between the artist Henry Moore and his friend and patron, Robert Sainsbury through a collection of postcards and letters from the Sainsbury Centre Archive.

The Young Associates exhibition project took 'correspondence' as its central theme. Artists were invited to work collaboratively in pairs and use correspondence as a starting point to make work. The correspondence between artists took a variety of forms. Some collaborations decided to exchange written correspondence such as letters, postcards and emails, others exchanged visual correspondence such as images, and objects and materials.
