Dust to Dust: Redesigning Urban Life in Healthy Soils

30 November - 17 February 2019

Dust to Dust began life as an research-led urban design challenge, issued by the international AHRC-funded network Pre-Colombian Tropical Urban Life (TruLife): Placing the past in designs for sustainable urban futures.

Teams from several countries were selected to develop their proposals for urban development collaboratively. The results are exhibited here. Taking inspiration from basic principles of inner-city design, practiced by the ancient Maya, the relationship between soil management and urban life is given centre stage in schemes that inspire to improve the long-term sustainability of cities worldwide.
