Henry Moore was a sculptor who liked to work directly with his material combining his forms with its properties.
Made from Ironstone found on Happisburgh beach in Norfolk, this is the first example of Moore experimenting with a ‘hole’ as a sculptural device, a feature which later became common in his work.
